To begin the day, the Anemi hotel offers a breakfast spread like none other! You can choose from the buffet style offerings, which are always delicious, or you can also order from the menu — or both. We tend to eat after yoga, and the Greek yogurt with fruit and thyme honey is extremely popular. There are also many sweets to select from, as well as savoury items like eggs, meats, grilled vegetables and more. The menu offers more in the way of omelettes and other specialties. Don’t forget to grab a piece of whole fruit to take back to your room for later.
Many of the small, local tavernas we visit on the island are run by families, and the majority of our restaurant meals are served family-style. That means large plates are brought to the table, and we pass the tray and serve ourselves. An array of appetizers, or Meze, will come, for example, tzatziki, greek salads, fava, spanakopita — and mains like grilled or stuffed vegetables, and sometimes meatballs, moussaka and souvlaki. We are often too full for dessert, but there is always fruit, and occasionally, local greek sweets like loukumades or baklava. We like to keep water flowing, as well as wine and beer if that’s your preference — note that in most cases, alcoholic beverages are your responsibility to pay. No one has been disappointed by our meals yet! They’re truly feasts for royalty. If we’re in Chora, the town centre nearby, you can explore local gelato, bakeries, try an aperitif or just have an after dinner stroll before we head back to the hotel.
